A Voyage into the World of Runes

RUNES are symbolic markings or glyphs used to convey thought.  They are a teacher-with which we can consult to get in touch with our own inner guidance-with the part of us that knows everything we need to know for our life NOW.

The RUNES are Odin's gift. Odin is the principle divinity in the pantheon of Norse gods.  His name derives from the Old Norse for "wind and spirit", and it was through his passion, his transforming sacrifice of the Self, that Odin brought us the RUNES.

Older than the New Testament, the Runes have lain fallow for more than 300 years.  Akin in function to the Tarot and the Chinese Book of Changes, the RUNES were last in current use in Iceland during the late Middle Ages.  In their time, they served as the I CHING of the Vikings.

By A.D. 98 the RUNES were becoming already known on the European continent-carried from place to place by traders, adventurers and warriors and, eventually, by Anglo-Saxon missionaries.  For this to happen, a common alphabet was required-the alphabet that became know as FUTHARK-after its first six letters or glyphs.

These markers (RUNES), left by Spiritual Warriors, the servants of civilization, can provide a mirror for the magic of our knowing Selves- a means of communication with the knowledge of our subconscious minds.

When we consult the RUNES we are actually consulting an Oracle, rather than having our fortune told. the chosen RUNE does not give instruction as to what to do next-nor does it predict future events.  Rather it points our attention towards those hidden fears and motivations that will shape our future by their unfelt presence within each present moment. When the chosen RUNE speaks to us of change and growth, the only negativity relates to blockage of appropriate growth- all the positive aspects are transcendent, transforming, and lead to breakthroughs.  The subconscious we encounter is the inner seeker-after-truth who must be helped to save us from ourselves.
